Do you need it? A 30-second check
- Look at the face of the cylinder by the keyhole for the Kitemark and stars.
- Three stars: you’re at the standard. One star: check the handle has two stars. Nothing: treat it as unrated.
- Does the cylinder stick out past the handle? That overhang is what snap attacks grip.

Upgrade questions
What is a 3-star anti-snap lock?
A euro cylinder Kitemarked to TS007 3-star, which means it has passed tests against drilling, picking, bumping, snapping and plug extraction on its own — without relying on a security handle.
Do I need a new handle as well?
No. A 3-star cylinder meets the standard on its own, whatever handle is fitted. We change the cylinder only, so your door looks the same.
Will it fit my door?
Almost always, if your door uses a euro-profile cylinder (most uPVC and composite doors, and many flat doors). We measure on site so the new cylinder sits flush with the handle.
How much does a 3-star lock upgrade cost?
£149 flat per door for a planned booking: Avocet ABS cylinder, fitting, three keys and an itemised invoice. No callout fee.
